Class Feedback
“I have one of those kids who wants to be in the middle of everything. When she came to me with questions about how she could get into modeling, I thought, well, I really have no idea. A friend was kind enough to share a link on Facebook for an Intro to Modeling class lead by Summer Edwards of Zephyr Talent in East Austin. For a very reasonable $75, we registered for the class expecting a vague overview of the industry, but were pleasantly surprised that the class leader was not just someone who worked on the periphery of the fashion industry, but had actually worked as a model in LA. Though the target audience for the class was for an older crowd than my daughter’s age range (she is 10 years old), the owner and staff were happy to accommodate us. Ms. Edwards covered a wide range of topics from explaining the different types of modeling, how to start out, how to promote yourself, what not to waste money on, how to pack for a photo shoot, and on site etiquette. Probably most importantly, Ms. Edwards skillfully communicated how to deal with criticism in a sales oriented industry. The friendly, informal atmosphere allowed me to feel comfortable in asking questions any mother would have. The studio was a little difficult to find because the entrance is slightly concealed, but a quick phone call directed us to the door. If you are an adult interested in trying your hand at modeling or are a parent of future model, I highly recommend Summer Edwards’ Modeling 101 with Zephyr Talent. They are kind, upbeat folks offering detailed industry information at a great price. Check them out!” ~ Amy Romig
After being involved in pageantry and dance for many years, I assumed runway modeling would be an easy task. I was SO wrong! If I hadn't taken Summer's class, I would be learning that the hard way. I am so happy to have taken her class, because now I have the confidence and tools to help me succeed on the runway. I would recommend this class to anyone and everyone! You can never have too much practice, and why wouldn't you want an upper hand?-Aaryn Elizabeth
I attended the workshop hosted by Zephyr Talent and it was incredibly helpful. The first class, taught by Summer Edwards, Modeling 101 was really informative and went into great detail about everything you need to know to succeed in the performance world. She explained what to wear, what things to be prepared for auditions, and how to conduct yourself professionally at all times. Even though I thought I knew a lot about modeling, Summer brought up and taught us things I didn't even realize I needed to know! The second class I took was a runway class which again was very helpful. She helped us distinguish poses, faces and movement style for different types of walks such as fashion an glamour. That was informative because I didn't realize which types of poses were most appropriate for which type of walk and she modeled for us and helped show us very hands on how to do the right poses. -Katherine Slater
I am an actor and have never modeled before. Frankly, for the longest time I have never thought I would ever walk down a runway or pose as a model. Attending Zephyr Talent's modeling class taught by Summer Edwards was a last minute decision. While I still don't consider myself a model, I am very happy I decided to attend the class. As an actor you can never have too many skill sets, and modeling definitely comes as a natural extension to acting. It is more obvious if you work on commercials and promotions, but I felt it also could be helpful promoting your own work as an actor.Summer definitely showed a thorough understanding of what working in the industry entails, including the not-so-pretty details. The runway class was the most fun. Walking in those heels and doing it pretty is not as easy as it looks. Summer gave great feed-back and instructions, and we got to practice the different styles plenty times over until we felt comfortable with each of them. The class environment was relaxed, informal and very supportive. It was definitely a day well spent. - Hanna Haide
